Join us for a fun, educational and rewarding nature walk on the BRLA!

Learn how we can improve the value of our surrounding landscapes by identifying pernicious invasive plants and beneficial native plants. Invasive plant species outcompete and displace native plants that many native wildlife species depend on for food and cover. A decrease in plant diversity results in habitat loss, degraded water quality, soil erosion and pollution. Native plants stabilize soil, filter water, purify air and support wildlife.

Learn how we can restore our natural surroundings to function as a healthy ecosystem.

Betsy Mitchell is a horticulturist and landscape designer endeavoring to create ecologically-functioning landscape designs. She takes hints from the land about which plants it will naturally support. She prefers to use a combination of native and naturally occurring plants so that the landscape can integrate with the local ecosystem and provide habitat for wildlife.

This trail hike will be approx. 1 hr. and is free to the public. Registrants will receive detailed instructions on where to meet before the event. Space is very limited.
